Extra Curricular Activities PDF Print
These programs are dependent upon staff and student interest and parent support.  All students have the opportunity of participating in the following:

Band
Kiama Public School provides a Band Program for students from Years 4 to 6.  Some talented Year 3 students may participate. There are requirements that need to be met if your child would like to be a member and this information is available on request.  Our school does have instruments that families can hire and there are costs associated with supplying music etc.  Students are also required to attend both weekly tutorials and a full band practice.  These are held before school, at lunchtime, during school time and after school, depending on the focus.  Students in the Band will have many opportunities to perform at school and local community functions, both in school and out of school time.
A separate brochure is available for interested students.

Chess
Students in Years 3 to 6 may participate in the Chess competitions.  Lunchtime training occurs and students compete against other schools, after school hours, in chess competitions.  Parent help is required.

Choir
Kiama Public School has two choirs, Stage 2 (Years 3 & 4) and Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6).  All students have the opportunity to participate in the choir.  Rehearsals are held in school time. Performance opportunities are numerous including Music Festivals and School functions.

Dance
Students in Year 6 may audition for the Dance Troupe that participates in the Dance Festival and at other school functions.  A separate brochure is available for interested students.

Productions
Productions involve a whole stage of the school on a biannual basis, i.e. even years, Stage 1 (Kinder, Years 1 & 2) or odd years Stage 3 (Years 5 & 6).  Performances are held during the day and in the evening.

Talent Quests
Talent Quests are run by the Student Representative Council during lunch times over a number of weeks. All students K-6 have the opportunity to share their talents in categories such as singing, instrumental, drama and comedy. The whole school attends the grand final, where winners are chosen by members of the SRC.

These competitions are by students from all over the Australasian region with over 400 000 students sitting for the exams on average.
